Committee Roles

Membership

  • Manage membership applications (new and renewal) and payments in a timely manner
  • Keep membership list up to date
  • Liaise w/ Range Access re: orientations
  • Organize, schedule and conduct range open houses to attract new members and/or provide social engagement for existing members
  • Provide content to Communications
  • Make recommendations to Executive regarding membership cap, dues and other membership elements
  • Develop annual budget

Communications

  • Produce regular, at minimum quarterly, newsletters for members – liaising with other committees
  • Draft, edit and review content to be sent to members on an ongoing basis (e.g. event reminders)
  • Draft, edit and review any correspondence to be produced by BTSA
  • Review and update BTSA website
  • Review and update, when required, BTSA Vision, Mission, bylaws etc.
  • Develop annual budget

Range Access

  • Develop and update range orientation curriculum, examination and process
  • Conduct frequent range orientations and examinations (at minimum monthly) – including mandatory refreshers
  • Ensure membership files are updated with orientation completions
  • Liaise with membership and communications regarding gate code approvals and changes
  • Participate in annual event schedule calendar planning session
  • Provide content to Communications
  • Develop annual budget

Range Maintenance

  • Develop an annual range maintenance plan, including scheduling of two full range clean-ups each year, fence inspection and other scheduled maintenance work
  • Liaise w/ Range Caretaker regarding work completed and required
  • Coordinate and manage volunteer and contractor requirements for maintenance
  • Manage porta-potty and garbage services (ongoing) and in liaison with Competitions and Programs for larger events
  • Participate in annual event schedule calendar planning session
  • Provide input into annual and five-year capital plans
  • Provide content to Communications
  • Make recommendations to Executive regarding membership cap, dues and other membership elements
  • Develop annual budget

Competitions and Programs

  • Schedule and manage annual event schedule calendar planning session
  • Draft and update when required, in concert with communications, a ‘letter of agreement’/requirements and guiding principles for organizations seeking to hold events on BTSA’s range facilities
  • Liaise w/ partner groups (each group/event to have a rep on the committee), requiring each group to provide, for approval, a list of annual requests prior to the calendar planning session, and detailed event plans and budgets adhering to BTSA’s administrative requirements:
    • IPSC 
    • IDPA 
    • USPSA 
    • Charity shoot/Turkey Shoot 
    • Youth Programs 
    • Monday/Wed night programs 
    • Black Badge/Holster 
    • Cadets
  • Provide content to Communications
  • Develop annual budget
  • Provide input into annual and five-year capital plans

Safety

  • Develop and update a range safety plan and program, including liaison w/ other range stewards and first responders
  • Identify and remedy any risks to safety on the range facility
  • Review and contribute to event-specific safety plans and programs
  • Ensure range facilities are equipped with necessary safety equipment
  • Provide input into annual and five-year capital plans
  • Provide content to Communications
  • Develop annual budget
