Young Guns

The Buffalo Target Shooters Young Guns Program introduces Calgary and Southern Alberta youth to the history and heritage of lawful firearm ownership in Alberta. Appreciation for this heritage is learned by introducing youth to a variety of different shooting disciplines including; prone target shooting, USPSA style steel challenge, and dynamic multi-gun competitions.

Founded in 2010, Young Guns has hosted hundreds of young shooters offering safe, fun, and positive shooting venues where they are given lessons related to:

  • Alberta’s history of firearms ownership and the shooting sports
  • Firearm safety
  • Range etiquette
  • Age appropriate, hands-on interaction with firearms
  • Demonstrations of popular sport shooting disciplines

Our goal is to teach young shooters the virtues of respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and gratitude with a firm belief that the Calgary and Southern Alberta firearms community is a positive influence in our local community.

We believe that the youth involved in the Young Guns Program are the future of both the shooting sports and our society at large, and it is our honour to set them on a positive path towards maturity and responsibility.
